1. FST Child Safeguarding Policy (2020)
This comprehensive policy outlines FST’s guiding principles, standards and operational commitments to ensuring that all children are safe from harm, abuse and exploitation within the organisation’s work and influence. It reinforces our zero-tolerance stance on child abuse and provides clear guidance for staff, partners and stakeholders on how to uphold child protection standards.
Key Highlights:
- Based on the five guiding principles of child safeguarding: zero tolerance, children’s rights, prioritising the best interests of the child, empowerment through education and integrating safeguarding into all operations.
- Defines child safeguarding, child protection and child welfare in detail.
- Sets out prevention, recruitment and reporting procedures for suspected abuse.
- Includes FST’s official Code of Conduct for all staff and representatives.
- Demonstrates alignment with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and international child protection standards.
2. FST Quarterly Newsletter – Issue 1
The first official newsletter by Family Support Trust introduces the organisation’s initiatives and recent activities in the prevention and management of sexual and gender-based violence. It highlights community engagement, media outreach and capacity-building programmes across Zimbabwe.
Key Highlights:
- Overview of FST’s role in providing free medical and psychosocial services to survivors of sexual abuse and GBV.
- Training of faith and community leaders in Harare, Goromonzi, Zvimba, Mazowe, Umguza, Lupane and Tsholotsho using the Sexual Violence Against Children (SVAC) model.
- Reports of over 2,000 faith and community leaders trained through 80 workshops.
- Updates on information dissemination through radio programmes, television shows such as Mai Chisamba and Vhunze and social media engagement.
- Visual insights into age demographics and case data from FST’s survivor-friendly clinics.
