What Services We Offer
At all our clinics, survivors receive professional care tailored to their physical and emotional needs.
Medical Services
- Medical examination and treatment for injuries.
- HIV testing, Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP), and STI treatment.
- Pregnancy testing and emergency contraception.
- Forensic evidence collection for use in court.
Psychosocial Support
- One-on-one counselling to help survivors process trauma and begin healing.
- Family and group counselling sessions for long-term recovery.
- Support groups that promote empowerment and emotional resilience.
Legal Support
- Completion of medical affidavits used in court proceedings.
- Referrals to the police, prosecutors, and social welfare officers for legal follow-up.
- Guidance on survivors’ rights and the reporting process.
Community Referrals
We collaborate with the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), Judicial Service Commission, Department of Social Development, and Ministry of Women’s Affairs to ensure that survivors receive integrated and coordinated care.
When to Report
If sexual abuse has occurred, it is best to report and seek medical help as soon as possible, preferably within 72 hours (3 days). Early reporting allows medical professionals to:
- Prevent HIV infection through PEP treatment.
- Provide emergency contraception to prevent pregnancy.
- Collect forensic evidence that can be used in court.
However, even if the abuse happened months or years ago, you can still seek counselling, medical support, and legal guidance. Healing has no deadline.
What To Do After Sexual Abuse
If you have experienced sexual abuse or assault:
- Do not bathe, wash, or change clothes (if possible) before a medical examination — this helps preserve evidence.
- Go immediately to the nearest Family Support Trust clinic, hospital, or police station.
- Bring a trusted person (family member, friend, or community leader) for emotional support.
- Report the incident to the police or a social worker for legal follow-up.
- Remember: it is not your fault — help and protection are available.
For Parents, Teachers, and Caregivers
If you suspect that a child has been sexually abused:
- Stay calm and listen carefully to the child.
- Reassure them that they did the right thing by telling you.
- Report immediately to the nearest Family Support Trust clinic or police station.
- Do not confront the perpetrator directly.
- Ensure the child receives immediate medical care and counselling.
Your quick response can save a child’s life and help bring perpetrators to justice.
