16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence commemoration

On the 26th of November 2023, Family Support Trust, Adult Rape Clinic, and Nzeve Deaf Centre participated in the launch of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence in Hauna, Mutasa district as part of the WAVE consortium. The event was hosted by the Ministry of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development. The primary objective of the event was to launch and commemorate the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence. The event united other organizations that fight against gender-based violence and showcased the services provided by the three organizations that are part of the WAVE consortium.

The launch of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence was an opportunity for the Family Support Trust, Adult Rape Clinic, and Nzeve Deaf Centre to showcase the work that each organisation does.

The event was well attended by representatives from numerous organisations, government officials, and members of the general public. FST, Adult Rape Clinic, and Nzeve Deaf Centre were able to display their services while also informing attendees about the WAVE project.

It was a showcase of how numerous organisations have worked with the government to reduce gender-based violence, a crucial societal issue. The event took place as part of this year’s 16 Days of Activism theme, “Unite! Invest to Prevent Violence Against Women and Children,” which emphasised the significance of collaboration and investment in reducing violence against vulnerable groups.

During the event, FST and other organisations were recognised for their remarkable dedication and contributions to combating GBV. The Honourable Monica Mutsvangwa, Minister of Women Affairs, Community, and Small and Medium Enterprise Development, awarded FST with a certificate of appreciation.
